Wood floors simply make a home feel more inviting. The diversity of colors and designs offered by this flooring is fantastic. However, because to the demands of daily living, it can be difficult to keep them looking vibrant and new. Here are some helpful ideas for preserving the appearance of your laminate wood or hardwood floors to keep them looking their best.

1. Try Preventative Measures

A simple installation of coarse outdoor mats or shoe brush offs at all doorways will help limit the amount of dirt that enters your home from the outside. Another helpful suggestion for limiting the spread of filth is to use an indoor mat at all doors and removing shoes. By putting felt on the bottoms of furniture legs, you can avoid scratches on the floor.

2. Sweep/Swiffer/Vacuum

Every day, dirt enters your home from the outside; small particles of debris can readily become trapped in the grooves of your flooring, and dirt left on the surface is frequently crushed into or scratched into the finish. The more often you sweep, Swiffer, or vacuum your wood floor to minimize filth buildup, the cleaner and less damaged it will be. There are a variety of equipment available to keep filth and grime at bay, ranging from a simple broom to a robotic vacuum, depending on your preferences.

3. Cleaning the Grime

Both laminate and hardwood floors don’t like a lot of water. It can cause delamination in laminate and warping or swelling in hardwoods. If a spill occurs, wipe it up immediately with a moist cloth and blot dry. A cushioned microfiber mop or an auto spray microfiber mop are two options for cleaning wood floors.

Special cleaning chemicals for laminate and hardwood floors are available to restore the look of your floor. Before using, read the directions thoroughly. The cleaning solution should be sprayed on the laminate or hardwood floor and then wiped away with a clean, soft cloth.

Though there are many natural DIY suggestions for cleaning hardwood floors, that one can consider, be sure to check sources and test in an inconspicuous location.

4. Maintenance

Your flooring, like the rest of your house, require regular maintenance. It’s critical to check your floors for minor scratches or dents. A brief guide on flooring repairs is provided here. Before you begin any repairs, make sure the area to be worked on is free of clutter and clean. Purchase furniture touch-up markers to apply to minor scratches that aren’t too deep, and then rub off with a soft cloth. To repair a dent, you’ll need to buy floor patching material. A flooring supplier can assist you with color matching. and offer the best laminate or hardwood flooring restoration options. These repair kits frequently require you to apply a small amount of material to the dent – clean the area – let dry – and repeat if necessary. Then, to make it look like wood, a scratch filler is applied, followed by a furniture touch-up pen and a soft cloth to buff it out.

Howard is a great home inspector his attention to detail is very good and his knowledge on most subject manners is really good. Additionally all the questions I had he was able to answer even if they didn’t necessarily directly relate to the inspection.

Howard was fantastic! He did our pre drywall inspection and our final inspection before closing. I can’t say enough how much I recommend him to do any inspection you may need. He was at our house from 8am until 5pm making sure everything was covered before we closed. His reports are also very easy to understand and detailed. I highly recommend him for any inspections but specifically a new construction. There are so many small things that get missed by the builder and Howard catches them all.

Howard is top notch! Never fails to take calls no matter what. Did my pre-drywall inspection in a day's notice and found a few items that were definitely missed by the builder. His reports are detailed including pics and video. He uses drone technology to see things that he's unable to access. I am beyond thrilled that I hired his company and will recommend that anyone looking for an inspector in the Orlando area to not even hesitate to hire him. He's worth it!!!
